Nuni Hernandez is excited about showcasing her business and meeting new customers during the second annual Columbia County Restaurant Week.
The event, which is hosted by the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce and the Columbia County Convention & Visitors Bureau, will be held Jan. 24-30, 2022 to promote the county’s local and regional restaurants. Hernandez – Executive Chef and Owner of The Crazy Empanada located at 3652 River Watch Parkway next to Bob’s Tropical Fish in Martinez, participated in the event in January 2021 and highly recommends it to other restaurant owners. “It was an amazing thing because many people didn’t know about The Crazy Empanada,” she says. “You got to meet a lot of new customers.”
To participate, a restaurant must be locally or regionally owned and have a location in Columbia County. In January, 15-17 restaurants participated, according to Olivia Reich, the Chamber’s Communications Manager. “They’ve had a tough couple of years,” says Reich. The deadline to submit applications is Friday, Jan. 14, and the registration fee has been waived. Chamber membership isn’t required to participate in this event. Restaurants that submit applications by Friday, Dec. 17 will also receive social media coverage.
For Hernandez, Restaurant Week gave her the opportunity to serve new dishes to her customers. “It gave me the chance to explore items I don’t have on the menu that I would like to put on the menu,” she explains. “It was a very good thing.”
