Commercial realtors develop new strategy for Evans shopping center

The last two tenants to fill the “big box” at the corner of Old Evans Road and the Riverwatch Parkway were Food Lion and the Playhouse. Both closed— Food Lion due to consolidation of their supermarkets by region.  The Playhouse took over that space and lasted a few years before closing in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.

When Davis Beman and Scott Brantley of the Beman Group at Blanchard and Calhoun Commercial Real Estate took over as leasing agents they approached the “big box” differently.

“The 40,000 square feet is being subdivided with a workout facility taking about 10,000 square feet and we are looking at retail and offices for the rest,” said Beman.

There’s been a new “vibe” to the center since 2019. Besides long-time tenant Evans Dry Cleaners there are some newer tenants like Farmers Insurance, a Box Drop bedding store, and Good Vibes Yoga, Fitness and Wellness.

“We are so excited to see the building providing opportunities for new tenants… it is encouraging to see new businesses opening up after we all took a hard hit from Covid-19,” said Bethany Roley, a co-owner of the Yoga center.

She like others are curious about which fitness gym will open as well as other tenants. 

Beman says he’ll have an announcement on the workout facility once the lease is signed this week and hopes for more tenants soon. “We have a lot of good activity,” Beman added.

“We are looking forward to meeting our new neighbors…and seeing how we can all work together to help each other and our businesses grow”, said Roley.
