Today’s Woman to Know is a self-proclaimed, “employed-preneur” who has spent the last ten years in the finance and HR industry. As an Augusta native, Alicia Fitts has worked her way up through the financial ranks from teller to loan officer to HR manager and then found her passion in business development.

Serving as both the Assistant Vice President of Business Development and Community Relations for Peach State Federal Credit Union, Fitts has a chance to make a difference in the lives of the local community every day.

“For me, it’s not just about providing financial services; it’s about making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. I firmly believe that a strong corporate social responsibility ethos and culture are paramount in any organization I align myself with. It’s essential that the values of the institution resonate with my personal character, ensuring that I can authentically and passionately contribute to the betterment of our members and community.”

Bettering members and community are just what Fitts does and she has served in some impressive ways so far in her career.

Fitts attributes her successes to her role models in life and she has had many, but most notable are her parents.

“My mother, Brenda Walden. She’s not just a mother to me but a beacon of strength, wisdom, and grace. She exemplifies what it means to be a successful career woman while prioritizing family, service, and faith in God.”

“My father, Michael Walden. I’ve picked up my entrepreneurial, sales, and marketing experience from him,” Fitts explains.

Fitts uses the traits instilled by her parents to impact the lives of those around her every day.

“My service, fundraising, and leadership abilities, which have been instrumental in my career, are traits I’ve inherited directly from my parents. Her unwavering support and encouragement have given me the confidence to pursue my goals fearlessly.”

Accomplishing goals and living fearlessly is exactly what Fitts has been able to do at Peach State Federal Credit Union and beyond.

“At Peach State Federal Credit Union, our mission as a not-for-profit financial cooperative is to advocate financial education, smart saving habits, and sound credit use to enrich the lives and financial well-being of its member-owners,” Fitts explains.

“Having experienced firsthand the challenges and obstacles that individuals may face on their financial journey, I understand the importance of offering support and guidance, especially during difficult times. I am a witness that Peach State FCU truly has a heart for our members and the communities we serve.”

The sky is the limit for this young “employed- preneur” and the best is sure to come.

“Overall, my journey in the credit union industry has underscored the significance of diversity, including gender diversity, in driving innovation, fostering inclusivity, and ultimately, delivering better outcomes for our clients and communities.”
