CSRA company teaches local teens life-saving skills

Andrena Garnett wants her clients to be prepared to save a life because in an emergency, every second counts. Garnett – owner of Anerd 4 Life LLC, teaches the American Heart Association’s CPR, basic life support, and first aid certification courses. She will hold a teen training day on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 930 Stevens Creek Road in the ABD boardroom. “I want everyone to understand how important it is to be certified because you can save a life,” says the former Pre-K teacher

Local college receives $100,000 grant to fund short-term training programs

Bank of America has invested $100,000 in a new short-term job training initiative developed by Augusta Technical College to address the local labor shortage. The initiative is called FAST, which stands for Focused, Accelerated Skills Training. The college’s Corporate and Community Education Department will use the funding to cover the cost of three certification programs: Manufacturing Fundamentals Bootcamp, forklift and OSHA training, and medical scribe skills. It will also allow Augusta Tech to partner with local employers and WorkSource Georgia to provide job placement opportunities for graduates of these programs,
