Two CSRA restaurants capture national awards

Raise a glass to two of our own that emerged as Award of Excellence winners by Wine Spectator magazine, billed as a leading authority on wine. It’s quite an honor based on the level of competition across Georgia and South Carolina. The Willcox Inn has aged like fine wine, literally. The hotel was built in 1898 in Aiken, considered the Queen of the Winter Colony. Fine dining and drinks by the fireplace have always been a part of the ambiance. AU one of only three universities to win prestigious cybersecurity award

Augusta University was recently honored with the 2025 CSO50 Award, which recognizes organizations for outstanding innovation and leadership in cybersecurity. Presented by Computer Security Online, a division of Foundry, an IDG Inc. company, the award celebrates 50 projects annually that deliver exceptional business value through creative, effective security strategies. Paying tribute to area military personnel

The Columbia County Exhibition Center hosted a full house, awash in red, white, and blue to honor Fort Gordon, the Augusta area’s largest and one of its oldest employers. It was established in 1941 as Camp Gordon. The Columbia County Chamber, North Augusta Chamber, Alliance for Fort Gordon, Greater Augusta Black Chamber, Thomson-McDuffie Chamber, and Veteran Golfers Association co-sponsored the annual Military Appreciation Luncheon, part of the Executive Luncheon Series. Juneteenth: CSRA celebrations, closings, and challenges

Today is Juneteenth, the 4th consecutive year June 19 has been celebrated as a federal holiday to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States. In the CSRA, festivals are planned for those who may be off work, and there are closings that may impact those who aren’t. The vast majority of area banks will be closed today.
