The 1.75-acre former Walgreens property at Bobby Jones is in the midst of a facelift, and the general contractor is updating ABD readers on the specifics of the future Parker’s Kitchen.
Clifton Construction is on board as the General Contractor on the project.
Demolishment of the original 15,200 square foot building is complete, as the parking lot is getting cleared.
Parkers Kitchens are typically built in the 5000-7000 square foot range, and this one is expected to be on the small side.
Rob Clifton of Clifton Construction said the footprint of the gas pump side will be typical of a Parkers.
“The last plan I saw had 8 dispensers, which means 16 cars can fill up at the same time. There are around 35 parking spaces, not counting the spaces where vehicles fill up.”
This will be the first Martinez store and fourth Parker’s Kitchen in Columbia County, once complete in 2026.
Others include 5095 Washington Rd., Evans, 5170 Columbia Rd., Evans; and 925 Husk Box Way, Grovetown.
Despite national reports of more than 200 Wendy’s restaurants closing in 2026, the McDonald’s competitor is expanding in the CSRA.
As ABD first reported on August 13th, the new, more modern design of Wendy’s is on schedule for a late 2025/early 2026 grand opening in an outparcel in front of the Riverwood Shopping Center in Evans.
Here is an updated photo of the construction progress. In the distance is a McDonald’s that is within a few hundred feet of Wendy’s. Wendy’s is looking for store managers to open the restaurant.
The hamburger restaurants join a sub shop, tavern, pizza restaurant, Mexican restaurant, Chinese and BBQ offerings.
ABDs learned that a new boutique and country casserole shop is in the midst of a soft opening in the former Canale’s in a strip plaza and Deli on Washington Road and Davis Road. Once the new sign is up, ABD will have more on the Grand Opening celebration for the owner, who recently moved from the Furys Ferry Road area.
