Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce to honor top local business owner, corporation

Augusta is home to many small business owners and corporations, and each year, the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce has the daunting task of selecting the best.

Every fall, the Chamber accepts applications for its Best in Business awards: Augusta’s Entrepreneur and Corporation of the Year. Winners of these awards are honored at the December Member Economic Luncheon. This year’s luncheon will be held on today, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza North Augusta.

The Chamber selects winners of Augusta’s Entrepreneur, which is presented by SouthState Bank, based on not only their business success but also community involvement and creativity, among other factors. Last year, Jason Kennedy and Charlie Wall, owners of Loop Recruiting, won the award.

The Corporation of the Year award goes to a company that has a local office and at least 200 employees working in the CSRA. Winners are selected based on not only business success, but other factors, such as community involvement and investment in local business development. Last year, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions won the award, which was accepted by the company’s President and CEO, Stuart MacVean.

“We look forward to honoring companies that significantly contribute to what makes our business community very special and recognizing their success,” said Chamber President and CEO, Sue Parr.

Jon Jackson, founder of Comfort Farms in Milledgeville, will serve as the luncheon’s guest speaker. Jackson, a U.S. Army combat veteran who sustained a traumatic brain injury and now lives with post-traumatic stress disorder, helps other veterans dealing with the same conditions.

The cost is $40 for Chamber members and $50 for prospective members. Registration is required, and the deadline is Monday at 11 a.m. To register, visit augustametrochamber.com/events/member-economic-luncheon-december-2022.
