In today’s Biz Bits, ABD looks into a restaurant closing in Evans, a snack shop opening in downtown Augusta, and DoorDash helping out the hungry.

Ruby Tuesday is now closed permanently in Mullins Crossing in Evans.

Two North Augusta locations remain open for the casual restaurant.

With 1600 reviews, Ruby Tuesday had a 4.0 rating out of 5, but many customers on Facebook wrote how the service, cleanliness, and food quality had gone down.

Pop’n Off Gourmet Popcorn and Nuts is celebrating its grand opening and celebration tomorrow afternoon, November 18th, in Downtown Augusta at 716 Broad Street. That’s between the Miller Theater and Groucho’s Deli.

Pop’n Off Gourmet Popcorn and Nuts offers a wide variety of handcrafted popcorn flavors — from classic caramel to bold, savory blends — along with a selection of fresh-roasted nuts.

Popcorn is something that brings people together — it’s fun, nostalgic, and full of flavor,” said owner, Sheila Jones. “After years in Chicago, I wanted to return home to Georgia and share something that’s truly special to me.”

Following the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting, you can enjoy complimentary small-batched popcorn and roasted nuts that Sheila makes fresh.

Kudos to the DoorDash team in the CSRA and a $35,000 benefactor helping feed those who are hungry. It’s a new partnership with the Golden Harvest Food Bank and United Way of the CSRA.

This partnership will help deliver nutritious food, hygiene products, and essential household items directly to the homes of local neighbors who need them most. Deliveries are coordinated through United Way’s 211 resource line and Golden Harvest’s network of hunger-relief partners, making sure support reaches homebound seniors, families with young children, and neighbors with disabilities or limited access to reliable transportation.

“We’ve seen a 74 percent spike in calls to our 211 helplines for food and transportation assistance during the shutdown,” said Brittany Burnett, President & CEO, United Way of the CSRA. “That immense need is exactly why our partnership with Golden Harvest Food Bank and DoorDash for Project DASH is so powerful. It’s not just about delivering meals; it’s about reaching a neighbor struggling to get by, removing that transportation barrier, and ensuring they have immediate support. This collaboration allows us to quickly respond to our families in need.”
