Reviewing challenges for Augusta’s next air show

On the heels of Augusta Regional Airport’s 2024 Air Show, members of the Aviation Commission are looking at how to prepare for next year. Tim Weegar, airport Deputy Director and Director of Operations, began with a brief update on last month’s air show for members of the Air Services/Air Show Committee. “From the operations side, it was good,” he began. “We didn’t get fussed at by Homeland Security. We were able to make some better connections with their internal security and our security. So, as far as the operational side,

Hoax fools customers of fast food restaurant

Gary Gibson, owner of two Gary’s Hamburgers restaurants in the CSRA was awoken Friday to calls from his restaurants, after an anonymous person in the group, “Disgusta” said after 40 years Gary’s restaurants would close at the end of September. “That’s totally false,” said Gibson. The group has 82,000 members and allows its members to gripe about issues in the CSRA. Gibson wonders if upcoming, temporary store closings may have caused the post. Due to staffing shortages here at the North Augusta store and the Washington Road store, each store

Temperatures jumpin’ and AC units pumpin’

The heat is on the CSRA with temperatures officially hitting 100 degrees a few days ago. Many other days have registered in the mid to upper 90s with heat index readings between 105 and 110. About now, many folks are singing the praises of Willis Carrier who invented the first air conditioning unit in 1902. It might be even more practical these days to show some love to companies who keep those units running. David Bragg, owner of Riverside Heating and Air Conditioning, has more than 30 years of experience

Sponsored Review: Brinkley’s Chop House and Brinkley’s Tavern

My Melissa and Lyndee are meat and potato girls. You could call my wife a “filet snob” and my daughter has learned from osmosis (and her taste buds). Brinkley’s Chop House in North Augusta is known for its amazing steaks, but what the Gordons learned on a recent Saturday night is that change can be good, even great! About twice a year, Executive Chef, Ed DeFelice changes the menu to address seasonality. Adding different flavors, textures, and accompaniments to staple non-steak menu entrees like Chicken Breast, Duck, Salmon, Scallops, and

A local organization that works to help individuals who have served jail or prison time find employment held an informational meeting at the Golden Harvest Food Bank’s Community Room. Called the Inclusive Hiring Huddle, it was presented by ReNforce, a non-profit organization that works with those previously incarcerated who need employment and businesses that need employees. “The Inclusive Hiring Huddle is just a space for businesses and community organizations to come together, to huddle, to have a conversation with myself as the coach and a couple of other leaders that’s

Business Lunch Review: Farmhaus Burger

Food Quality: 4 Service: 5 Business Meeting: 3 Value: 5 Overall Rating: 4.25 out of 5 I’ve been going to the gym with a friend every morning at 5:15, which is much earlier than I ever considered getting up, let alone working out. My next step will be improving my diet and finally learning that just because I exercise doesn’t mean I can eat whatever I want. For example, I know I can’t eat burgers and fries every day, but it can be the perfect meal, especially after a hard

Real Talk Real Estate: Rental Fraud: A True Story

Editor’s Note: It seems there is hardly a week that goes by that ABD isn’t writing about a new business starting up in the CSRA. My name is Leanna Woodward, yes Woodward, you read that right. I am the daughter of your favorite CSRA realtor and the usual writer

The Alliance for Fort Eisenhower teamed up with AT&T and Human I-T to provide laptop computers to students and families with the goal of providing active duty service members, E5 and below, with the tools to bridge the digital divide. “We do that in so many different ways, especially in K through 12, but in the Augusta area, with our military families being so important, we felt like it was very important to extend this type of a program to the military families out of Fort Eisenhower,” Stan Shepherd, Regional
