Money flowing into the Hurricane Helene Disaster Fund

The Hurricane Helene Community Crisis Fund is growing due to generous donations from across the county. Created on Sept. 27 by the Community Foundation for the CSRA (CFCSRA), it got an Oct. 3 cash infusion of a $5 million contribution from the Augusta National Golf Club and the Foundation. “But since then, we now have foundations out of Atlanta that are giving to it. Simon Says: Positive labor news

Employment in the Augusta Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) continued to grow for the fourth consecutive month. In August, employment was 247,800, up 700 from July. 3,300 net new jobs have been created in the last year. Over two-thirds of the net new jobs were created in the education and health services sector, reflecting national trends. Private education and health services jobs have grown by 3.8 percent over the last 12 months. Government employment represented almost a quarter of the net new jobs in the Augusta MSA over the last year.

An eight-day herculean effort by area volunteers from service organizations like the American Red Cross to the Chamber of Commerce came to an exhausting end late last week. CSRA garnering international attention for storm recovery

One of the State of Israel’s top officials in the southeast spent Wednesday in the CSRA, visiting storm-damaged areas and distributing supplies. Anat Sultan-Dadon, the Consul General of Israel to the Southeastern United States began the day in North Augusta. “We have been in touch with the authorities and the elected officials and decided to come to one of the locations where it matters to be on the ground,” she explained to ABD. Taking steps toward recovery on post

Fort Eisenhower and Eisenhower Army Medical Center (EAMC) are beginning to phase in operations as the post and hospital recover from Hurricane Helene.
