October 31st, 2019, Richard Allen was sick at home and started to bleed. His wife, Mary, called an ambulance. That ambulance got lost. She wrapped his wound, got in the car, took her husband to the emergency room and they immediately took him back to the ER. The ambulance driver called an hour and a half later to tell her that they were waiting for her at her house, but no one was home. The doctor told Ms. Allen that her getting her husband to the hospital so quickly likely saved his life. Thus, the Mighty Matt Kit was developed.

In 2006, Eagle Corps Services was formed. They specialize in personal and professional protection items, such as the Mighty Matt Kit. This kit has all the supplies that Mary would have needed to help her husband in his biggest time of need.
“The quicker your reaction is to a life-threatening incident, the more likely you are to save that person’s life,” said Allen.
Eagle Corps Services provides items that all professionals and businesses need to protect their employees such as safety gear, first aid kits like the Mighty Matt Kits, and other personal protective items to prevent the spread of infection and personal injury.
“Our main goal is to protect everyone’s most valuable asset, which is a human life,” Allen explains.
As a Service-Disabled Veteran-owned business started by her late husband Richard, Mary and her 2 sons, Kenny and Rich carry on their father’s legacy in safety innovation. Mary now runs the company alongside her son Kenny, who has since endeavored to continue the work his father started at Eagle Corps. Rich is also innovating safety at the company Axios where he helps provide the body cams, dash cams, and drone footage that we see from law enforcement officers in the field.

The Allen’s have a long-standing history of protecting the CSRA. In fact, in 2018, they won the South Carolina’s Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business Administration’s award for Small Business of the Year. You can meet up with Allen at the Connections and Career Conference on September 24th, at the First Baptist Church.
Allen is excited to, “make the community aware of what is available to them, because if you don’t know what is available to them, then you can’t really make an informed decision.”
So, be sure to come out and learn about all of the safety and security equipment that is available to you at the Connections and Career event on September 24th. Ms. Allen will be excited to speak with you.
