The indoor/outdoor fair – sponsored by several local businesses, such as Augusta Candle Company, New Moon Café, and Little Guide Augusta, will be held Friday, Nov. 5 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 6 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Redemption Church located in the Doris Building at 930 Broad St. It will feature a total of 77 local and regional vendors selling a variety of handmade items, including jewelry, pottery, food, and art, as well as gifts for men, children, and even pets, according to Claire Riche, the event director. “There’s something for everybody,” says Riche. “It’s a really fun atmosphere.” Vendors will include Vibe Smoothie Bar, Trevathan Goat, Cashmere Moon, and DogGone Cute Apparel & Accessories.

The semiannual event raises funds for Redemption Church, which uses the proceeds to support its ministries, such as Sojourn Uganda and Envision Atlanta. This year’s fair has raised about $6,500 so far, but that amount will grow because some vendors donate a percentage of their sales to the fundraiser. “Half of the vendors donate between 5 and 10 percent of their proceeds,” she states. Vendors also pay to rent booth space at the fair. The event was canceled in both 2020 and May 2021 due to COVID-19. “Half of the vendors rolled over from the 2020 event,” Riche explains.

The Augusta Handmade Fair not only allows vendors to sell their creations, but also supports businesses located near the event. “We definitely encourage people to go visit the shops downtown while they’re at the event,” she adds.
