Family business keeps on trucking with special anniversary

The Matthews family is getting ready to throw a 35th Anniversary party to thank customers, vendors, and staff. They say they’ll keep on moving for many years to come.

Patriarch Bob Matthews founded Matthews Motors in 1991 as a mobile repair operation.

Matthews Motors is now a family-owned commercial truck sales dealership and service provider for fleet operators across the Southeast.

Bob’s sons, Aaron Matthews and Austin Matthews, are now leading the company in the second generation with Tanya and Alan’s help, while Bob utilizes his expertise through custom upfit projects and the design of new truck configurations to serve specialized customer needs.

The company employs nearly 65 team members and operates a 40-bay service facility designed to support full commercial fleet operations from its headquarters at 1351Gordon Highway.

“Most of our customers don’t have time for downtime. If their truck isn’t working, they can’t serve their customers, which costs them in more than one way,” said Aaron Matthews. “Everything we’ve built over the last 35 years is about keeping them moving—plain and simple.”

Matthews Motors serves regional municipalities, contractors, and fleet operators throughout the CSRA while continuing to expand its national footprint, offering custom work-ready trucks for sale.

Matthews Motors works with small and large companies to provide service and sales of new or pre-owned trucks and large fleets of refuse and sanitation trucks, mechanic and crane trucks, hooklift and roll-off applications, landscape trucks, specialty trailers, final-mile delivery applications, septic and portable restroom trucks.

The 35th Anniversary celebration is on Thursday, April 30th, from 11-1 at their headquarters.
