Eli Andrews is about to introduce the CSRA to a unique pizza concept you won’t find at Pizza Hut or Domino’s.
Andrews will launch a Kono Pizza food truck on Friday, Jan. 27 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Crawford Creek neighborhood in Evans. Unlike traditional slices, Kono’s pizza is served in a cone imported from Italy, which is where he discovered it.
“You hold it like an ice cream cone,” he said. “Everybody thinks it’s a unique idea.”
Andrews said the cones are much less messy to eat at outdoor events than regular pizza and don’t even require a plate.
After the grand opening, Andrews plans to take the truck to various locations, such as Amazon and the VA Medical Center in downtown Augusta. He will also rent it out for special events and already has several booked for February and March.

Kono Pizza, which was founded in Italy in 2004, came to the U.S. in 2013. The company has more than 130 franchise locations in 20 countries.
Prior to going into the food truck business, he worked in the restaurant industry for 22 years.
“I’m really excited about bringing it to Augusta,” Andrews said. “I think it’s going to make people happy.”
