2023 Spherion Franchisee of the Year Angela Swarts (in red) was happy to provide a difference to Aaron Hudson in the form of a $5,000 scholarship to help him at the Augusta Technical College and his transition to Augusta University.
The Sandy Mazur Scholarship celebrates leadership, excellence, and the next generation of community leaders.
“Sandy Mazur was the former President of Spherion Staffing LLC, my franchisor,” said Swarts, an Augusta franchisee since 1995. “The owner community created the Sandy Mazur Leadership Scholarship in honor of her when she retired. Every year, the owner community, along with our colleagues, make donations to the scholarship foundation so that we’re able to provide these meaningful scholarships to students across the US.”
Alongside his full-time job as a truck driver, Hudson spends his free time at Garden City Mission, where he supports and connects with individuals facing challenges similar to those his own family has experienced. Having seen firsthand the impact of economic hardship and housing instability, Aaron developed a passion for finance and risk management as a way to help others build stability. He hopes to become an actuary and use his expertise to create meaningful change for individuals and families in his community.
In addition to Aaron, four other students in Spherion’s national community were also honored with $5,000 scholarships.
