One of the largest CSRA ribbon cuttings in recent memory kicked off a big weekend for a new West Augusta restaurant, while its neighbor to the far left expects to open within a few weeks.
Dave’s Hot Chicken leaders told Augusta Business Daily its soft opening did very well the day before, on Thursday, March 28th. With a nod to the upcoming Masters tournament, DHC provided a golf simulator (far right) and a mystery envelope giveaway for the first 500 guests on Friday. During the weekend, several schools, first responders, and non-profits like the Girl Scouts participated in the celebration.

Augusta Mayor Garnett Johnson was given a ceremonial rubber chicken by “Built Different Brands” CEO Kal Gullapalli (left), who praised residents of the Augusta Aiken region. “This community has been so good to us. This is our 8th location in the area (including 7 Marco’s Pizza franchises), and we’re going to continue to invest, particularly because the community has been so good to us, said Gullapalli. DHC is known for its large chicken tenders and oversized sliders made to order with 7 choices of spiciness. Gullapalli told ABD that the medium spice is most popular.
Jordan Trotter Commercial Real Estate owns the land, which sits across from Cadence Bank and Meybohm Real Estate, facing Wheeler Road. Dennis Trotter (center between Gullapalli and Mayor Johnson) said his company purchased the property years ago and was waiting for the right partners.
“Some of the young guys in our office brought this concept to us. We are happy to bring something new to the market. It kicks off the development of this site and also next door, said Trotter.

Dave’s Hot Chicken, Peachtree Immediate Care, and Surcheros restaurant occupy the center. The fresh Mexican restaurant is supposed to open in mid-April, according to Jordan Trotter.
The adjacent property is 1.15 acres, and JT is leaning towards offering a ground lease of the land with the future tenant constructing a building to their specifications.
