Inaccurate Facebook post generates interest in doughnut shop franchise

People love to post news on social media about businesses coming to the CSRA, but a recent Facebook post about a doughnut shop with an unusual name opening soon was inaccurate – at least for now.

The post stated Duck Donuts is opening soon in Columbia County, and more than 250 people have commented so far.

“I’ve heard these are the best donuts ever,” Nzuri Davis posted.

“This just made my day,” Victoria Smith posted.

But a public relations spokeswoman for the company said they haven’t received a signed franchise agreement for the Augusta area. But she said the company is excited about the Facebook comments.

“Duck Donuts is overwhelmed by the positive interest and excitement for a location near Augusta,” she said. “Augusta is an ideal market for Duck Donuts, and we would welcome the opportunity to have a conversation with those interested in franchising.”

Duck Donuts serves not only doughnuts but also coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and even ice cream. Doughnut flavors include maple bacon, s’mores, and strawberry confetti, as well as a variety of seasonal flavors.

Founded in 2007 in a town called Duck in the Outer Banks, North Carolina, the company now has more than 100 locations throughout much of the United States, including Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Texas. It also has locations in Canada and Saudi Arabia.
