Local antique shop begins first week in new spot

After being closed for three months, a local antique shop re-opened in its new location on Friday.

Mema Had One has relocated from 2328 Washington Road to 135 Davis Road across the street from Good Earth Produce & Garden Center. The former location closed on Aug. 31.

While the new location is much smaller, it will only be filled with items people want to buy, such as toys, artwork, collectibles, and gifts, according to the business’s co-owner, Pam Hayes.

“We’re excited about the more curated items,” Hayes said. “We pride ourselves on being a store for all ages.”

She and her business partner, Candice Lee, held two-yard sales to get rid of many items from the Washington Road store.

“We sold, donated, and trashed what didn’t come over,” Hayes said. “We’re excited about the smaller, more manageable location because bigger is not always better.”

They plan to host a holiday grand re-opening celebration on Saturday, Dec. 10 beginning at 10 a.m. The store was named after her grandmother, who was affectionately known as Mema and would’ve turned 100 in April 2022.

The new location will be open every day except Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, visit memahadone.net/ or the store’s Facebook page.
