Local business professionals host community lunch, coat drive this week

Many in the CSRA have always had plenty of food and warm winter coats, but this week, two local business professionals are helping those in our community who haven’t been so fortunate.

Local Certified Public Accountant, Josue Garcia, and certified financial planner, Kurt Mueller with Atomic City Smokers, a competition barbecue team that also provides catering services, will host a free lunch for the community on Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Garcia’s office located at 705 Edgefield Road in North Augusta. All it takes to enjoy the lunch is the donation of a coat for those less fortunate in the area.

“We both like to give back to our community in different ways,” Garcia said. “We’re asking people to donate a coat to the Community Ministry of North Augusta.”

They anticipate 50-75 people will attend the lunch but hope the actual number is even larger than that. He said they’ll have a whole hog, so there will be plenty of food, and the lunch will be a drop-in event, not a party. But if they would like, attendees can eat lunch at the office.

“We want to help people out as best we can,” Garcia said.
