Today, some key Augustans will probably have tired hands and feet from shaking hands and walking Augusta National.
Augusta Richmond County Economic Director Cal Wray, his staff, and dozens of ambassadors organized by the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce will be welcoming business leaders from all over the world. It’s time for the annual Red Carpet Tour.
Wray says his office will be speaking to several people associated with dozens of ongoing projects—many of them are site selection consultants hired to scout communities like Augusta on behalf of companies.
“We utilize the Red Carpet Tour to try and solidify the deal,” said Wray.
He said his team invites guests, who’ve already discussed their needs and potential sites.
They try and honor special requests given by visitors to the Red Carpet Tour—including one time arranging for the group to watch Tiger Woods up close and personal, teeing off at hole #1.
As ABD reported last year, seeds planted during previous discussions and Red Carpet tours have borne fruit for the Augusta area. Aurubis Richmond, LLC, which made a $700 million investment here, and Syensqo (formerly Solvay Polymers) were both results of the Red Carpet experience.
According to the Georgia Chamber’s website, “Since its inception in 1960, the Red Carpet Tour has generated more than tens of billions in investments for the state, and tens of thousands of jobs have been created through the expansion or growth of Tour guest companies.”
ABD’s Dana Lynn McIntyre will be at today’s event and will have a complete report soon.
