Small business looks ahead to their bigge$t day

Summer is winding down. Good riddance to hot rubbish. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported it was one of the hottest on record. As we get further into the “ber” months, time moves even faster. CSRA businesses are gearing up for the holidays that lie ahead including Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

CSRA Chambers of Commerce and other local business organizations, including Downtown Soul City and the Aiken Downtown Development Association don’t want you to miss Small Business Saturday, on November 30th which is wedged in between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. That is why they are planning now for an event that is 11 weeks out.

“We are finalizing the plans for our fourth annual Shop Small Augusta event on November 30. We usually engage with more than a dozen downtown retailers who offer discounts,” said John Porter, Director of Downtown Soul City.

All participating Augusta businesses with Small Business Saturday will be identified by gold garland and a star above their door.

Follow Downtown Soul City on their website here or on Facebook for more information.

The group also offers tickets for each business visited and then gives away prize baskets to shoppers who visit those businesses through drawings.

One of the businesses involved is brand new to the area, Three Crows Fiber. They just opened their business two weeks ago at 223 James Brown Boulevard. They offer yarn for knitting and crocheting and classes.

“We look forward to participating in the Shop Small Augusta event,” said one of the owners, Jeff Pullium.

ABD will feature the business including the three owners in a story this week. Some are familiar faces.

During the last three months of the year, small businesses see waves of new customers both in-person and online. These shoppers are highly engaged and looking for reasons to visit or buy. This makes the holiday season a terrific time for small businesses to capture people’s attention and grow their customer base.

The North Augusta Chamber is also now promoting their Small Business Saturday promotions. The Chamber is planning a special Member to Member Newsletter that will drop on Wednesday, November 27, and be shared on social media. For more information, visit their website.

Aiken has also begun preparations for Small Business Saturday on November 30. They are inviting shoppers to Think Big and Shop Small. Aiken shops will offer a variety of sales and promotions for the event. Click here for more information.

In the words of Ferris Bueller, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
