Tim Kennedy and his mother, Martha, have been in the furniture business for decades and are finally ready to retire. They’ve leased their store since 2009.
“I’m 63 and my mom is 87, “said Tim from behind the counter of his 12,000 square foot Furniture Outlet space in Anderson Plaza on the Bobby Jones Expressway.

He expects to liquidate his furniture by the end of the holiday season, either at the store or by wholesaling the furniture to other dealers.
When the furniture is gone, leasing agents for the plaza will be left with (4) 3,000 square foot, empty spaces.

About 18 months ago, they succeeded in moving Edwin Watts to a much larger space within the plaza.
It’s allowed for golfers to have a much more open, robust putting green, which is in front of a golf simulator installed after the move.
The challenge is that Anderson Plaza folks haven’t been able to lease out Edwin Watts’ original space, which is a valuable end cap unit.

Investments have been made in upgrading the look of the plaza, along with more modern signage. One of the new businesses to move in is in the midst of its grand opening— Cilantro’s Latin Market.
The signage includes a billboard that the Plaza is using to market empty spaces—including a push to find a company within the growing healthcare business in the CSRA.
