Washington Road antique shop to relocate

Mema Had One has been an Augusta landmark for more than a decade, but the antique shop will soon move to a new location.

The shop’s current location at 2328 Washington Road will close on Wednesday, Aug. 31, and reopen at 135 Davis Road near Inner Bean Café. Co-owner, Pam Hayes said she and her business partner, Candice Lee, aren’t sure yet when Mema Had One will reopen in its new location.

Hayes said the business is moving because the Washington Road property was sold, leaving them with the choice between relocating or closing permanently.

“Obviously, the new store will be physically smaller, but it will be more curated,” she said.

That means the Davis Road store will be filled with antique customers who will want to buy, while the current location is much larger and contains some less popular items. Mema Had One sells a variety of items, such as artwork, furniture, and vintage clothing.

Hayes said the business has been successful on Washington Road, but its location hasn’t made it that way.

“Our business is our passion and bringing that passion to our customers,” she said. “We can do that anywhere.”

The store is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit memahadone.net or call 706-421-0626.
