Women’s fitness center to replace Martinez yoga studio

Running a business is hard in the best of circumstances, but opening a business less than six months before the pandemic began made things harder.

That’s what happened to Bethany Roley, co-founder of Good Vibes Yoga, Fitness & Wellness located at 4111 River Watch Parkway in Martinez. Now Roley and her business partner, Michele Guest, have decided to close Good Vibes, which will offer its final class on Saturday, August 27.

They founded the studio in November 2019 and were forced to close it in spring 2020 due to Covid.

“We offered virtual classes while we were closed,” Roley said. “People who do yoga tend to be more health-conscious than other people; some didn’t even come back into the studio until 2021.”

Roley said the studio hasn’t been as profitable as they had hoped. The decision to close had nothing to do with Endurance Fitness’s former plans to open a new location in the same shopping center.

But the building won’t remain empty. She will move her other business, Fierce Fitness Training, a women-only wellness center founded in 2006, into that space. Fierce Fitness was previously located at 470 Columbia Industrial Blvd. in Evans.

Roley plans to offer not only fitness classes, but also workshops on a variety of topics, including confidence, stress relief, and anxiety. Fierce Fitness will also offer yoga classes.

She said the transition should be complete by the end of August.

“It should be an easy transition for everybody,” Roley said.
