Local husband-wife team launch unique Evans business

2020 was a hard year for most, but for Jon and Laura McCauley, it was especially difficult. Jon – a chemical engineer – lost his son in a car accident and decided it was time for a career change. Furniture chain brings new store to Aiken

A national furniture company has opened a new location in Aiken. American Freight Furniture (see photo above) is now open at 1680 Richland Ave. West near Food Lion in Kalmia Plaza. The 30,000-square-foot store sells a variety of items, such as indoor and outdoor furniture, as well as mattresses, appliances, and rugs. Founded in 1994, American Freight has more than 350 stores in 40 states, including one located at 1708 Wylds Road in Augusta.
