Local hotel undergoes extensive renovations in time for Masters Week

Major renovations of a local extended-stay hotel will be completed by Masters Week, according to Betty Carter. Carter, General Manager of Candlewood Suites located at 1080 Claussen Road in Augusta, said many parts of the hotel, including the lobby, front desk, guest rooms, fitness center, and gazebo, have been remodeled. “We have a new parking lot, business center, hallway lighting, furniture, kitchen cabinets, and security with door locks and cameras,” she said. Simon Says: How are Augusta’s employment numbers in 2023?

The first economic data for 2023 is in, and it isn’t good news for the Augusta Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). Employment fell by 2,000 from December to 242,200 which was its lowest level since March 2022. By comparison, employment in the state of Georgia rose by 16,600, and 8,900 in South Carolina.
