The incoming Columbia County Chamber President got to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to a retired Chamber President credited with being one of the key leaders behind Columbia County’s growth more than a decade ago.
The new President and CEO, Heath Taylor (left), addressed the membership for the first time since starting on February 2nd.
He presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Tammy Gibbs Shepherd, who was President from 2010 to 2020. She helped strengthen local businesses, expand workforce programs, and was one of the leaders behind the push to bring the U.S Army Cyber Command to the region.

Dean Smith (Retired U.S Army after 22 years) owns Veterans Pressure Washing and took home the Small Business of the Year award.
SouthState Bank, which purchased Georgia Bank & Trust in 2017, was awarded Large Business of the Year.
Other winners at the 21st Annual Banquet celebration at the Columbia County Exhibition Center were:
- Tiffany Heitzman, Executive Officer at Home Builders Association Greater Augusta-Aiken Region, received the Leadership Columbia County Alumni Award.
- Janet Mueller, Realtor & Associate Broker at Heartland Real Estate, took home the Ambassador of the Year Award
- Jamie Wier, Director of Marketing at Blanchard & Calhoun, was honored with the Volunteer of the Year Award, sponsored by First Community Bank.
- The Chamber also recognized The Home Builders Association of the Greater Augusta-Aiken Region for the Non-Profit Member of the Year Award.
