Former TV News Anchor helps lead “She Got Game” event

While a mostly male crowd was at Augusta National this past weekend for the Masters, an all-female group of 70 took part in the 2nd Annual empowerment event, “She Got Game.”

One of the women, Barclay Bishop (Lyles), shared lessons learned after her retirement from WJBF.

“Barclay sank the winning shot with her story on the pivot.  Being transparent and honest, she shared how she stepped away from a successful career in television to be a stay-at-home mom, allowing her to read her own script instead of someone else’s,” said event organizer Tonia Gibbons.

The keynote speaker, Kimberly Ratcliff of Ratcliff Premium Meats, set the tone at Saint Paul’s River Room in downtown Augusta and let the women know the best accessory a woman can wear is authenticity.

“I didn’t know how much I needed this room” was the common theme from the women in attendance, and overall, the brunch fostered a sense of connection and empowerment”, Ms. Gibbons added.

Attendees enjoyed:

  • Women-owned vendors selling products geared toward health and wellness, cooking, and art
  • Music by DJ Jasmine
  • Food provided by Cheese and Cake Grazing Co.
  • $25 headshots by Myka Shot That Photography
  • Playbooks to help them continue their journey of growth long after the event was over
