$5,000 Scholarship from area business

Last year, Aaron Hudson of Augusta received a $5,000 scholarship to help him at the Augusta Technical College and his transition to Augusta University.

Who will win this year’s Sandy Mazur Scholarship from Spherion Staffing and Recruiting? Applications are underway for this Georgia award that celebrates leadership, excellence, and the next generation of community leaders.

The scholarship awards up to $5,000 to individuals pursuing higher education who demonstrate leadership, academic achievement, and a commitment to bettering their communities. Applications are open now through April 30, 2026.

The scholarship is open to students across Georgia, including high school seniors, current college students, and individuals returning to school to further their careers.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see students who are already making a difference in their communities take the next step in their professional journeys,” said Sandy Mazur, former president of Spherion. “I’m proud to continue to be a part of a community that champions the next generation of leaders. Good luck to all who apply this year!”

To be eligible, applicants must plan to enroll in a trade school, two-year or four-year college or university, and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. Candidates are also required to submit a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the FAFSA and share examples of their community involvement, including how they plan to “pay it forward” in their future careers.

Aaron Hudson accomplished his career goals by going to ATC, having a full-time truck driving job, and volunteer work at a homeless shelter.
