Jefferson Energy Cooperative and Georgia Power have both released positive updates heading into day 12 post-Hurricane Helene.
Thanks to 600 additional crews in CSRA counties— including hard-hit Columbia County—about two-thirds of residents and businesses now have power. JEC’s total footprint is about 37,000 and officials say a bit more than 25,000 customers are energized.

Georgia Power is extending time to any of its millions of customers who need more time to make payments. The company is continuing the suspension of disconnections, waiving late fees, and pausing collection activities, now until December 15th.
“We encourage customers to continue paying their bills on their usual billing cycle and avoid falling behind. However, we recognize that times are challenging for many Georgians even without the impacts of Helene and we want to do all we can to support them. Every Customer Experience team member is dedicated to working with customers who may need assistance to help find a solution that works best for them.” said Latanza Adjei, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience for Georgia Power.
