Alliance for Fort Gordon Recognized as a 2026 Great American Defense Community

Greater Augusta – Alliance for Fort Gordon has been recognized as one of the 2026 Great American Defense Communities by the Association of Defense Communities (ADC), joining communities in Shreveport-Bossier and Jacksonville in this year’s distinguished class.

Launched in 2016, the Great American Defense Community program honors communities that demonstrate exceptional and sustained support for service members, veterans, military families, and the broader defense community. Since the program’s inception, ADC has recognized more than 50 communities across the nation for their commitment to military partnership and community resilience.

Greater Augusta – Alliance for Fort Gordon earned the recognition for its longstanding partnership with Fort Gordon and surrounding defense installations, as well as its dedication to strengthening the region’s military and civilian collaboration. Local initiatives have focused on supporting military families, advancing workforce readiness, and promoting long-term community growth tied to national defense priorities.

The recognition was announced as part of ADC’s 50th anniversary celebration, which also highlighted communities nationwide through its “Homefront” series focused on enduring support for military communities and future preparedness. HERE is a video announcing this year’s class.

“This recognition reflects the strength of the partnerships throughout Greater Augusta and our shared commitment to supporting the men and women who serve our nation,” said Dr. Tom Clark, President and CEO of the Alliance for Fort Gordon. “We are honored to be recognized among the nation’s leading defense communities and remain committed to building a strong future for our military families, workforce, and regional economy.”

The award further reinforces Greater Augusta – Alliance for Fort Gordon’s role as a national model for defense community collaboration through sustained partnerships, shared resources, and forward-looking support for military missions and families.
