Another step forward in meeting healthcare demands

Aiken Technical College’s radiologic technology program has been accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

“Achieving JRCERT accreditation is a significant milestone for our radiologic technology program because it validates the quality of the education provided and enhances the reputation of the program among students, employers, and the broader healthcare community,” said Program Director Crystal Burke.

“The workforce demand for radiologic technologists is strong, and by offering a rigorous, comprehensive, and technology-forward education, our program can effectively prepare students to meet the needs of the radiologic sciences industry,” said Burke. “Ensuring that students graduate with both the technical expertise and soft skills necessary for patient care and professional collaboration is key to their success in the field.”

The accreditation approval is for eight years, according to JRCERT’s approval letter.

“Specialized accreditation awarded by the JRCERT offers institutions significant value by providing peer evaluation and assuring the public of quality professional education in radiologic sciences,” stated the letter.

Students enrolled in the radiologic technology program receive comprehensive instruction. The curriculum includes focusing on a range of topics from anatomy to advanced imaging techniques, hands-on training using cutting-edge technology, and participation in clinical rotations with regional healthcare partners.

Instructors also emphasize the importance of soft skills in healthcare, including patient empathy, communication, and teamwork.
