Bank with local branches merges with another bank

A bank with multiple branches throughout the CSRA is merging with another bank.

Cadence Bank, which has locations on Wrightsboro Road, Wheeler Road, and Walton Way, as well as East Hill Street in Thomson, merged with BancorpSouth on Friday, Oct. 29. The new bank will carry the Cadence name.

Founded in Mississippi in 1876, Bancorp has 420 branches throughout the U.S., including Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Tennessee, as well as Texas and Illinois. Atlanta-based Cadence Bank was founded in 2009 and has branches throughout much of the Southeast, such as Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, and Mississippi.

While the integration process won’t be complete until 2022, Cadence customers can begin using BancorpSouth ATMs without service fees. “Service excellence is the foundation upon which both Cadence Bank and BancorpSouth were built, and this same spirit will continue to define how we provide you with the best banking experiences,” says Paul Murphy Jr., Cadence’s executive vice chairman in a letter to customers. “Simply put, we are better together.”
