As a former reporter for Augusta Business Daily, I covered many restaurant openings and was fortunate to sample food from many local eateries.
Over the weekend, I got a chance to try another one: Café on 8th at 226 Eighth St. near Le Chat Noir. I wrote a story about the restaurant, which opened in April 2023. Café on 8th serves waffles in a variety of unique flavors, such as lobster, salmon, and avocado toast. Its menu also includes sandwiches, omelets, smoothies, and coffee drinks.
My wife, Rebecca, and I knew we wanted to try the waffles, but we weren’t feeling particularly adventurous that day, so I chose blueberry, and she ordered banana nuts. We both ordered a side of eggs, and she also got a side of bacon. Mine was topped with blueberries and powdered sugar, and the syrup contained cinnamon.
The food was delicious, especially the waffles, and the service was great. Café on 8th is small and quiet, making it an ideal venue for a business meeting. As for value, Café on 8th’s prices are reasonable and comparable to those of other local eateries, such as That Flippin’ Egg. At Café on 8th, we paid $8 each for the waffles, and That Flippin’ Egg’s waffles start at $7.99.
Now that I’ve tried Café on 8th, I can’t wait to eat there again.
