Business Summit promotes jobs, services, and knowledge

Your company can be a sponsor or vendor for a business summit after the tournament,  put on by one of the Chambers of Commerce in the CSRA.

Sponsored by the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce, the goal is to showcase products and services and provide workshops on entrepreneurship and job interview skills.

“Our focus this year is a lot on workforce development, so we’re trying to make sure that we’re meeting the needs of our Chamber members and providing opportunities for them to showcase their wares, which is part of the vendor fair side of it,” Chamber President and CEO Terra Carroll explained for ABD. “We’ll have a lot of businesses that just want to talk about their product and the services that they can offer to the community.”

Another component of the business summit will be a hiring fair highlighting the vendors that currently have positions to fill.

“I know everybody’s doing hiring fairs, but this one is a little bit more intentional, because we’re really focusing on our Chamber members, the jobs that are there, and how it really builds up the pipeline for our community,” said Carroll. “We’ll have an area that’s just for our vendors, those hiring. We’ll have space available for any of those that are hiring to do on-the-spot interviews.”

Carroll said, outside of the main room with the business summit, another room will be set up to hold workshops.

“We’ll have workshops for how to start a business, entrepreneurs that want to grow their business, folks that might need help before they go into their job interview, developing their elevator pitch to try to sell themselves,” she said. “We want to just make sure we’re providing a full package of content to help people move to their next level, whatever that is.”

Carroll said that’s why this event is structured as a business summit, rather than the more commonly held expos. The chamber wants to be intentional in the service it provides its members and the community at large. She said that it is in keeping with one of the pillars of the North Augusta Chamber.

‘One of the pillars for the chamber for this year is education and workforce development, most especially workforce development,” she said. “We always see all over social media, we’re hiring, we’re hiring, we’re hiring,” she said, adding it can also demonstrate the value of chamber membership. “We want to be consistent in what we’re offering as a value to our Chamber members, and hopefully we can build on it and add different things that really help them say, ‘Yeah, that was worth my investment in North Augusta Chamber.’”

The Business Impact Summit will be 4 – 7:30 p.m. at the North Augusta Community Center at 495 Brookside Ave., off E. Buena Vista.
