Local economic development leaders soak in Top-Ten list

A national publication recently studied economic growth and site development along the more than 1,500-mile stretch of Interstate 20. Augusta made a big impression. Site Selection Magazine, a publication that caters to business executives and site selection consultants, found the highest concentration in Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington with 772 sites. Atlanta and New Orleans rounded out the top three. However, Augusta made the list, sitting at number 10. The study looked at all new corporate and end-user, facility investment projects over the past two years in the counties the interstate passes through.

Eisenhower Award for Excellence in Services by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) this week. Pitching Solutions to Real-World Problems

Teams of graduate and undergraduate students at Augusta University presented what they believe can be solutions for real-world challenges. They competed in the 6th Annual INNOVATE Pitch Competition hosted by the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center. The first competition in 2019 was to find solutions for a 15-year-old girl who was living with a colostomy bag, one of an estimated half-million people with the same challenge. Augusta entrepreneur named Georgia’s Small Business Person of the Year

Patrick Wells will be leaving for a ceremony in Washington D.C. in early May as the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Georgia honoree. He hopes to return to Augusta as the SBA’s Small Business Person of the Year in the U.S. Wells owns Piedmont Landscape Management, a commercial landscape maintenance company in Augusta. Group postpones event honoring business leaders

A gala set for October 17th has been postponed. It’s to honor four business leaders, including Dave Brendza from ADP, Stephanie Stuckey of Stuckeys, and the Bassali’s, who specialize in retail and commercial real estate. Due to the impact of Hurricane Helene, Junior Achievement officials in Atlanta made the decision to put off the event.
