A quiet explosion of economic development has been underway in South Richmond County, $3.2 billion in all. A long-time tenant in Columbia County’s Horizon South Industrial Park in Grovetown is ready to grow. Some of the largest companies will be in the Augusta Corporate Park off Mike Padgett Highway. The park is a “Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development (GRAD) Certified” site. One plant, Starbucks, has been in operation since July 2012 as the first company-owned facility to produce soluble products. Those are used in Starbucks via instant and the coffee base for many of the Starbucks bottled and canned beverages.

Florida-based company continues CSRA project

A new tenant coming to the Augusta Corporate Park off Mike Padgett Highway has the green light to close on the property designated for the project. PureCycle Technologies, Inc., a Florida-based company that converts #5 plastic waste to a renewable resource, announced it has received approval from the Augusta Economic Development Authority (AEDA) to proceed to closing on the project site. What does the Writer’s Guild strike mean for Augusta’s film industry?

Augusta’s burgeoning film industry could be threatened by a nationwide strike. The strike by members of the Writers Guild of America is entering its third week. This is the union’s first strike in approximately 15 years. Among the first shows to be impacted were nighttime talk shows, specials, and comedies, like Saturday Night Live.
