Patrick Reynolds knows all too well the pain of leading a toxic workplace. Reynolds – President and Chief Executive Officer of Cross Link Consulting, knew it was time to change his company’s culture a few years ago when it became increasingly challenging for him to go to work at the company he founded. “Our culture was in a place that was uncomfortable” he explains. “I was really hungering and thirsting for some tools, some low-hanging fruit, and some quick wins on how to shift the culture at Cross Link.” Reynolds

It’s important to “show employees how they fit into your mission,” she says. Edmondson and Tracie Parker – lead small business consultant for Gateway – delivered a presentation called “Beyond Benefits: Building Value through Creative

That was until he became involved with Young Professionals of Augusta – a local nonprofit that provides networking, professional development, and community outreach opportunities for working professionals between the ages of 21 and 40. “Public speaking is much easier for me now,” because that skill is required in both his role as YPA’s president and his full-time job as a building performance specialist for Total Comfort Solutions, says Wilson. That’s just one of the many skills he has developed

Tonia Gibbons had an idea to launch her own consulting and public relations firm, but she knew she needed to develop some fundamental business skills. Gibbons – founder of Farr More and Associates in Augusta – completed an intensive 12-week entrepreneurship certificate program called Make Startups offered by theClubhou.se – a small business incubator located on the third floor of the Georgia Cyber Center off of Reynolds Street in downtown Augusta. “The training prompted me to work on my business plan, do research on my market to make sure it’s

For Jade Wolfe (pictured above), one important takeaway from the Global Leadership Summit was the importance of overcoming fears. Wolfe – an agent with Keller Williams Realty Inc. in the Augusta area– attended the Summit for the first time at True North Church in North Augusta, which served as one of more than 500 host sites in the U.S. alone. She says she plans to return each year. “It’s not about not having fears, but facing our fears,” Wolfe states. That message came from Michelle Poler – one of 16
