More than 70 local, regional, and national companies will attend the Augusta University’s annual job fair tomorrow. Applying for a job is often impersonal and typically consists of filling out a detailed application a prospective employer may not even read, but this is an opportunity for students, alumni, and the general public to get in front of area employers under the same roof. Workforce shortage continues to plague CSRA small businesses

To alleviate the workforce shortage, many fast-food restaurants have offered new employees sign-on bonuses and higher wages, but these strategies have been largely ineffective. After the pandemic, some companies have required their employees to return to the office, but that hasn’t been the case at Sizemore, Inc., according to Joey Warren. Lack of transportation prevents many from getting or keeping a job. But a new non-profit staffing agency in Augusta has eliminated that barrier to employment for its workers.
