Every part of running a business has the potential to stress you out and keep you up at night. Takosushi founder starts another specialty restaurant

Kevin Goldsmith is at it again. He started Takosushi more than a decade ago and it’s become a local and regional success. The European native is celebrating 50 years in the food and beverage industry. Trattoria Polipo is an ode to his childhood, when he enjoyed the understated, affordable neighborhood restaurants that were gathering, eating and drinking spots for family and friends. Most meals are $18.50, plus a little more for meat or shrimp, which includes a house salad and freshly baked bread. The restaurant is open for dinners beginning

Mondays with Rick: Internships – The Hull Difference

This is the second in my series of columns on the value of internships. In my last column, I highlighted the outstanding summer internship programs in Augusta-Richmond County (Students2Work) and Columbia County for high school students to be introduced to potential future careers and the “work world” at local businesses. In addition, I indicated the benefits not only to the young people and companies participating in those programs, but also to the workforce development of the CSRA.  In today’s column, I will discuss the vital role that Augusta University’s Hull

Final Cut still isn’t announcing final closing date

It was a busy weekend for mostly ladies at Final Cut, sorting through 20% off sales on already marked-down women’s clothing starting at $5. If salesclerks knew when the next markdowns were or when the store would close in the former BI-LO, they would not say, while repeatedly getting asked at check-out. The 20% off sale has been in place since the going-out-of-business sale started. The other big seller was a BOGO deal on jewelry and does not allow you the additional 20% off. Ladies and men looked over higher-end

Good things happen around a table

It’s been said that the seven last words of a dying church are, “We’ve never done it that way before.”  Pastor Brett DeHart is not content to maintain the status quo. He’s been the Pastor of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Augusta for nearly three years now. He is intentional about keeping the church’s traditional worship vibrant, but is very open to new ideas and new ways to meet and minister to people. Aldersgate began in the early 1960’s, as people made the move further out of Augusta. The church

Leaders in business and family: Father’s Day tribute

Editor’s note: I grew up in Tennessee. My Daddy was a horse trainer and farrier with four daughters. He instilled in his girls a strong work ethic and helped us believe that there was nothing we couldn’t accomplish. One went into drafting, one became a seamstress, another followed in his footsteps as a trainer, and I worked in television. He was proud of each of his girls, just as ABD is proud to salute all the dads this weekend who set examples for their children to follow. Successful business owners

Cart Mart rolls into new CSRA location

What do hospitals, farms, military bases, and golf courses have in common? Golf carts. The uses depend on where you are and your needs. Outside of state roads or interstate highways, golf carts provide a handy way to get from point A to point B. Cart Mart moved in April from Augusta to 1044 E. Pine Log Road in Aiken, the former location of Aiken Saddlery. Since 2021, Zach Brown has served as the Sales Director for the GA/SC Cart Mart commercial team. “We’ve been incredibly busy in the past
