State of GA/SC Retail

The National Retail Federation is out with its 4th annual State of Retail and the Consumer, essentially the industry trade organization’s State of the Union report. ABD attended NRF’s March 20 Zoom event, led by Matthew Shay, President and CEO. NRF predicts retail sales will increase between 2.5% and 3.5% in 2024. Major retailer coming to North Augusta

A former grocery store in North Augusta will become a third location in the Aiken-Augusta area for a major national retail business. Hobby Lobby has signed a lease to move into the former BI-LO on Edgefield Road. It is in the Edgewood Square Shopping Center at 101 Edgewood Drive. BI-LO closed the store in 2019. Iconic retailer with an Augusta location announces store closings

Macy’s, which has an anchor store in the Augusta Mall, has announced massive store closings, including 50 by the end of this year and another 100 underperforming stores to close by the end of 2026. Super spending anticipated for Valentine’s Day

The National Retail Federation (NRF) has released its prediction for how much consumers will spend on their beloved for Valentine’s Day and the outlook is rosy. Meeting in a special session on Monday, commissioners re-visited their decision last year to designate Super Bowl Sunday as the day.
