Chamber leaders in Richmond and Columbia County considered the future workforce of the area and how out-of-area companies factor our schools in their decisions to relocate to the CSRA.
The Executive leadership for both the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Columbia County Chamber are in agreement on extending the 1% Sales and Use Tax.
Voters are encouraged to vote “Yes.”
In Richmond County, leaders want to support various essential projects. The extension will go towards constructing and renovating school buildings, improving classroom technology, upgrading athletic and arts facilities, and maintaining school safety through new buses and vehicles.
Angie Cox, President of the Augusta Metro Chamber, released a statement stressing the importance of the tax for the future of the local workforce. “Investing in education is investing in our community’s future. The continuation of the 1% education sales tax will empower our schools to provide the resources and opportunities our students deserve. Let’s come together and vote yes for our students, our educators, our community, and our future workforce.”
Meanwhile in Columbia County, Chamber President Russell Lahodny released a list of 5 reasons why a “yes” vote matters.
