Changes at local food and entertainment complex

John Hyder is about to demolish this part of his multi-purpose property that he opened 28 years ago. He’s a serial entrepreneur and is planning his 3rd act.

His miniature golf course was part of a unique business model that featured the South on Whiskey Event Venue and JC’s Seafood on his several-acre property at 3197 Whiskey Road in Aiken. Those two businesses will remain open.

Over the weekend, Hyder made the announcement on his personal Facebook page, and it sparked about 100 comments.

“We would like to sincerely thank all of our previous employees, the tremendous support of the community, and the trust that thousands of parents and kids put upon us to provide a family environment of FUN… birthday parties, teen nights, golf tournaments, and special events,” Hyder wrote.

Various people commented, including his first employee, a family member of the original course designer, a foster care child whose family was reunited there, and a married woman who had her first date there with her husband.

In 2016, he sold the Hole N One Family Fun Center and re-acquired it just prior to Masters 2019 and has not have managed it for the last 7 years.

Hyder is planning to utilize the land to develop another concept to go with the event center and seafood market/restaurant.
