A popular downtown Augusta restaurant has outgrown its current location and signed a letter of intent to lease a landmark building on 7th Street and Reynolds in downtown Augusta.
ABD’s learned the Brunch House has until September 9th to complete its due diligence on repair costs of the old Town Tavern restaurant building, adjacent to the pink, high-rise condominiums on Reynolds Street near the Savannah River.

The last restaurant tenant in the building was Mally’s Bagels and Grits, which closed its downtown Augusta location about 15 years ago. The Town Tavern building was constructed in 1965 and operated as an upscale dining and event venue through the 1980’s.
Weekends at the Brunch House are especially busy at the site of the former Whistle Stop Café at 573 Greene Street. “Sometimes the wait time is 1 hour and 30 minutes,” said Asian Brown, the 28-year-old owner of the restaurant, which serves breakfast and lunch all day—including an array of egg options with grits, diced potatoes, pancakes, Belgian waffles, sausage with peppers and onions and lunch highlighted by shrimp and grits.

Owner, Asian Brown is looking forward to being able to serve more customers at a new location
On a recent Friday morning, no indoor/outdoor table seating was available and a reporter was fortunate to find an open seat at the counter.

“We’d like to be able to add onto brunch with Mimosa’s,” said Brown. He’d also utilize private, upstairs space in the Town Tavern building for large parties., which he cannot do now.
Meybohm Commercial Real Estate is handling the leasing and is trying to secure a 5-year lease for the 13,300 square feet building.

Wishing them nothing but HUGE success – was fortunate to be able to squeeze in one mid-morning and was VERY happy with the food and my experience there.
Hope the larger location works out. I have tried 3x to get in with no success. Look forward to hearing good news for a new location with more table space.!!
That’s great news. It’s impossible to get in around lunch so bigger building means more customers!!
