Chris Hudson worked in a grocery store while attending college and understands the financial burdens many students face.
Hudson owns the Chris Hudson Law Group, an Augusta practice that specializes in various types of personal injury cases, including accidents, workers’ compensation, and product liability.
Since 2021, the Chris Hudson Foundation has provided need-based scholarships to students living in Columbia, Richmond, and Burke Counties. Each year, two students are selected to receive one-time awards of $2,500 each.
“We choose two deserving, smart, motivated but underprivileged high school seniors to help with their first year of college,” he said.

To determine if an applicant is underprivileged, the Foundation assesses his/her household income using federal poverty guidelines. To be eligible, seniors must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and write an essay explaining their plans for giving back to the community after they graduate from college.
The Foundation not only contributes to the scholarship fund, but also hosts a golf tournament to cover some of the costs.
“The CSRA has been good to me, and I’m happy to give back to it through the Foundation,” Hudson said. “I know how challenging it can be for students to make ends meet.”
The scholarship application deadline is July 1, and recipients will be notified by July 15.
