Downtown businesses help fund the beautification of Augusta

Sarah Bunjevac is excited about having her business featured in a local coloring book.

Bunjevac owns Halo Salon & Spa located at 1122 Broad St., one of 26 businesses, most of which are in downtown Augusta, that will be featured in the book. The book, which is being created by a local nonprofit called Beautify Augusta to fund the restoration of downtown murals, will feature business owners and their storefronts, as well as business and contact information.

“I am happy that Halo is part of the new downtown coloring book,” she said. “It is an exciting opportunity for local artists, but also, what a cool gift for VIPs and supporters!”

Jeremy Rueggeberg, the co-founder of Beautify Augusta, said he hopes the book will be available by the end of November or the first week of December, just in time for holiday shopping.

“They will be distributed at various locations throughout the city, such as schools and education centers,” Rueggeberg said.

He said some local businesses will also sell the book, but he doesn’t have a list of those businesses yet.

Local artist, Cole Phail will do the graphic design work, and photographs were provided by Sanjeev Singhal, CEO of CSRA Photography Inc.

Stuart Rayburn, the publisher of Little Guide Augusta, is happy to participate and support the project because it will enhance the appearance of downtown buildings.

“I think the idea is fun and supports producing more art in downtown spaces; I like that idea,” Rayburn said.

Other businesses participating in the coloring book project include Nacho Mama’s, Grantski Records, and Powerserve.
