Employees earn a prestigious award for Queensborough

Most companies think of themselves as great places to work, but Queensborough National Bank & Trust has actual proof of it. The bank recently earned the Great Place to Work Certification, an award based on employee feedback.

“We are thrilled to receive this designation and hope it will help us recruit and retain talent in today’s competitive environment,” said Sheryl Reed, Queensborough’s Vice President of Human Resources.

Great Place to Work bases its certification on employee surveys and a short questionnaire. According to its report, 89 percent of Queensborough employees rated the bank a great place to work. A typical company only has 57 percent of employees given that ranking.

In the survey, 97 percent of Queensborough employees said they feel good about how the bank contributes to the community, 94 percent said they were made to feel welcome when they joined the company and 93 percent feel confident that the management is honest and ethical in its business practices.

More than a third of the company’s employees (37 percent) have worked for Queensborough for more than 10 years, with 12 percent employed for more than 20 years.

The Great Place to Work website lists 123 Georgia companies that have earned the certification. Prospective employees use the Great Place to Work certification as a basis for applications and making decisions on where to work.

Awards are nothing new for Queensborough. In 2021, Newsweek rated it the Best Small Bank in Georgia.

Queensborough started in 1902 and has 26 locations from Augusta to Savannah. Its 350 employees logged more than 1,000 hours of volunteer community service last year. Employees last year also raised nearly $40,000 for the Georgia Cancer Center, United Way, and other organizations. The bank also made donations to local hospitals and community organizations and partners each year with Golden Harvest Food Bank.
