Food Lion provides money for charity in need

The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation just awarded a $10,000 disaster relief grant to an organization that stepped up in the wake of Hurricane Helene’s destruction of the CSRA.

In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene, The Salvation Army of Augusta prepared and served over 5,000 hot meals to storm victims, offering critical support during one of our region’s most challenging times.

The faith-based organization will use the funds specifically to support The Center of Hope Soup Kitchen, where The Salvation Army of Augusta is currently serving an average of 80 residents each night with breakfast and dinner. Additionally, The Center of Hope provides approximately 40 hot meals nightly to members of the community in need.

This grant will also aid long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts, ensuring that vital services continue for those impacted by the storm.

“We are deeply grateful to the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation for their generosity and commitment to our community,” said Major Jonathan Raymer, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Augusta. “This grant will allow us to continue addressing food insecurity and provide meals to those in need as they work toward recovery.”
