The Freddie’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers franchisee in Augusta and North Augusta is not building a third unit in the CSRA—after all.
The GVL hospitality group that owns Freddie’s, just off Washington Road in West Augusta and on Martintown Road in North Augusta, was going to build on the site of the former Zaxby’s on 1725 Whiskey Road in Aiken.
The 3650 square foot building sits on about a half-acre and attracts about 22,000 cars that pass by the property each day.
It’s been re-listed for $1.45 million. It’s near a Kroger and Lowe’s and across from the Odell Weeks Recreation Center.

As for Freddie’s, one of the partners in the GVL hospitality group has ties to Overland Park, Kansas—which is where M & M Custard is headquartered.
Last Friday, M & M Custard filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as it continues to try and operate its 31 stores in midwestern states.
Freddie’s is in the same fast casual space as Culver’s Restaurants, featuring cooked-to-order steakburgers, fish sandwiches, hot dogs, shoestring fries, and freshly made custard.
