The next time you walk into a neighborhood Walmart, you might think it’s brand new.
In reality, five CSRA locations are undergoing major renovations.
The first one completed is here at 3851 Martinez to Locks Rd in Evans.
ABD first told you about the updates and improvements in progress with THIS story in late summer. Friday was the grand re-opening.

Highlights include brand-new concrete floors and a revamped pharmacy with a wellness room, which includes a space for medical testing and treatments. Wellness rooms are being introduced in Walmart stores across the country, offering customers privacy during vaccinations and health consultations, plus a secluded area for nursing mothers.
“Given the critical role we serve in this community, we’re thrilled to offer upgrades to our store, as they will provide added benefits for both our customers and employees,” said Letha Gibbs, store manager at the Martinez Walmart Neighborhood Market. “In particular, providing privacy for our pharmacy customers is one of our top priorities, so having a new wellness room is a significant development.”

The most notable aesthetic changes included updating the paint from green to the signature Walmart blue, plus a digital media board in the deli. Additional improvements include an expanded digital space, which has also moved from the back of the store toward the front, giving customers easier access to online pickups. New grocery items have also been added, such as new bakery selections and vegetarian options in the meat and frozen department.
Other stores undergoing remodels in the Augusta area include locations at 3338 Wrightsboro Rd., 300 S. Belair Rd., 1041 Edgefield Rd., and 1201 Knox Ave in North Augusta. This year, Walmart has set a goal to remodel more than 650 stores across the U.S., including 20 in Georgia.
With 209 retail units and 13 supply chain facilities, Walmart employs over 65,000 associates in the Peach State.
